Language Rights Initiative
The initiative attempts to provide basic knowledge of language rights among police officers, religious leaders, educators and caregivers through a series of training workshops and activities/social events such as debates. The aim of the project is to further the awareness of language diversity in the Kantale Divisional Secretariat Area. The deliverables include: a one-day workshop for 40 police-officers, a travel and exchange programme between school children from Tamil and Sinhala medium schools, together with debating competitions organized at school level where educators are also encouraged to participate.
