Skills Training Programme

The ILO funded project aimed at improving the living conditions of war-affected children and youths in the North-eastern Province by enhancing their chances for decent work or self-employment. Community-based training in particular trades and vocations were identified and provided in ways that ensured beneficiaries could easily generate an income either individually or as a part of a group the moment they pass out. Small-scale production units were formed where necessary, serving 150 war-affected young people (50% girls) including ex-child soldiers.  The training included exposure to ILO’s Start your Business toolkit, including awareness on child labour and civic rights.
